Take Me Out to the Ball Game

From Beth: I head to New Orleans for a work trip tomorrow, so I'll have to make this a quick one. I will focus on our outing to the baseball game today. We got my work tickets for today's game and the weather was terrific. The girls enjoyed themselves, and the many treats that the concession stand had to offer (between us all we had nachos, dip & dots ice cream, cotton candy, a hot dog, beer, pop, water . . . perhaps we should look into those "all you can eat" tickets that the major leagues have. I suspect we might come out ahead!
Caroline fell in love with the nachos although she would just soak the chip in the cheese and then lick it off and dunk again, which is quite disgusting. It got messy very fast (and I have a cheese stain on my shoe to prove it!) so Jamie took her to get a hot dog to distract her.

Earlier this week we found out that Katie's friend Zach and his family were going to be at the game as well, so we told them where our tickets were and they came down to sit with us for the last few innings-- this was a good thing, since all throughout the first 6 innings Katie kept asking me if I saw him! The kids announced that they were "husbands" and had their usual goofy time together. They shared the remnants of Katie's treats and took turns running up the steps to where Jamie was watching the game with Caroline (in her stroller).

After the game the kids were allowed to go on the field and run the bases. Caroline was too little but Katie, Zach and Zach's little sister went. Their instructions were to hold hands and stick together, but that lasted for about 6 feet and then Zach took off leaving Katie and her flip flops behind and little Emma (in the brown shirt below) even futher behind.

Thankfully it's a short work trip for me- just one night, so I only have a bit of packing to do. And I am also grateful that the kids were exhausted after missing their naps, so we have to sound sleepers right this minute! Have a good week.
