Back to "Normal"

It's been a busy week, and we are all fully unrelaxed following our vacation! One of our adventures this week has been Caroline's full-time switch to big-girl underwear. She has been virtually accident free since Wednesday, but I am still living on edge. On Caroline's first day not wearing pullups at school I overlooked the shoe selection and unfortunately her suede school shoes took a hit. The shoes have recovered, but she's been in sneakers and crocs ever since. It makes for some interesting fashion statements . . . but then again so do wet pants.
Saturday morning Katie wanted to go downstairs early and when I came down she had set up a "breakfast restaurant" whose special was toast. The only catch was you had to have your toast delivered to you in a brown lunch bag, which made the toppings tricky.
Saturday evening, Katie and Jamie had a father-daughter dance for Indian Princesses. She was very particular about getting ready and we had to paint her toenails and curl her hair. She was also excited to wear the dress that Aunt Sharon gave her for her birthday along with her fuzzy sweater from Grammy Pammy.

Before the dance, a number of fathers/daughters from Katie's tribe went to a Japenese steakhouse for dinner, which she enjoyed. Katie's friend Caitlin (and her dad) also went this time, so it was fun for Katie to have a friend her age, since many of the girls are older.
They stayed until after 10 p.m. and by all accounts had a great time. Katie walked in the door talking a mile a minute and was anxious to tell me about all that had happened. And Jamie was quick to brag that Katie came in 3rd our of 120 girls at hot potato.
They did lots of games like limbo and hula hoops and really enjoyed themselves.

Caroline and I kept busy while they were gone and enjoyed our time together, but I know she is already looking forward to the day that she can go too.
Below is a video clip of some of Katie's fine dance moves. Unfortunately the video is vertical, so you may need to tip your head to watch!
