New Year

We have been busy recovering from Christmas. We got our decorations put away for the most part, but I was sad to see them go. Unfortunately we missed Saturday's warm, dry window to get the outside lights down, so I think those will linger a little longer.

Earlier this week Daddy invited me to go ice skating this weekend and I said "But I don't have a stick!" Dad got me one that he plans to cut down to size, but in the mean time I spent some time with it in the backyard practicing. Daddy was very proud to see that I naturally held the stick the correct way. I kept asking if the hockey boys are going to be there when I skate-- perhaps I think I am playing in a game?

On Saturday Mom took me to the toy store to buy some furniture for my new dollhouse with some birthday money that I received. I carefully put my money in my jacket pocket and asked to have it buttoned so she wouldn't lose it. Then I filled my purse with play Dora money and off we went. I selected the parents bedroom set. Ironic since I don't seem to care if my Mommy and Daddy get to sleep in their bed!

Caroline is getting so big that we moved her baths to the big tub instead of the bathroom counter. Prior to the change we had been living on the edge, just one good splashy kick away from a flood.

The highlight of Sunday was the ice skating. It was very warm and rainy out so we went to the indoor rink. I loaded up my "skate bag" (aka Dora backpack) and off we went. My skates weren't sharpened yet so it was hard for me to push off. Daddy said he couldn't have skated in those skates. When Mom asked me to tell Caroline about it I said "It is very slippery out there! And I am very fast!"

On Monday we had a lot of play time at home, since many of our usual haunts were closed. We did venture out for lunch and then came home for the newly instituted "Big Girl Rest Time" which has now taken the place of the nap. Last week it resulted in me falling asleep anyway. This week that didn't work, but I am going to bed easier at night, so we'll see how it continues.

Caroline is great and can kind of sit up and is desperately trying to roll over. It takes a lot of restraint not to just push her over when Mom and Dad are getting excited that she is so close.

Happy 2007 and GO IRISH!
